The Sustainable Cities Platform
The Sustainable Cities platform was established within the framework of a grant programme funded by the Belgian federal government’s DGD (Directorate-General for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid). Within this platform, stakeholders discuss, exchange, and collaborate on contributing to sustainable cities worldwide through international cooperation.
The platform brings together five active members: VVSG (Association of Flemish Cities and Municipalities) – the lead organisation of the platform, UVCW (Union of Cities and Municipalities of Wallonia), Brulocalis (Association of the City and Municipalities of Brussels), the NGO Echos Communication, and the NGO Rikolto. In addition, several other actors, such as NGOs, institutional stakeholders, and Enabel, are closely involved in developing the activities.

Together, these actors work towards creating sustainable cities that achieve the SDGs. A sustainable city operates within the planet’s ecological boundaries while ensuring the minimum social conditions necessary for the well-being of its inhabitants.
