Via regionale conferenties in Zuid-Afrika en Nicaragua en een internationale conferentie in België wil de VVSG - samen met de lokale besturen in Noord en Zuid - werken aan visie-opbouw rond gemeentelijke internationale samenwerking. De conferentie in Zuid-Afrika vond plaats in Bloemfontein (Mangaung Local Municipality) op 4 en 5 oktober 2010.
De conferentie in Nicaragua vond plaats in Santo Tomás Chontales van 27 maart tot 2 april 2011 en de internationale conferentie in België ging door van 17 tot 19 oktober 2011 in Gent.

Through regional conferences in South Africa, Nicaragua and an international conference in Belgium, the VVSG – together with local authorities in North and South – is working towards a vision and strategy on municipal international cooperation.
The conference in South Africa took place on the 4 and 5 of October 2010 in Bloemfontein (Manguang Local Municipality).
In March 2011 the conference in Nicaragua took place and the international conference in Belgium was from 17 till 21 October 2011 in Gent.
